1st established in 1776, this estate is located in the furthest corner of the beautiful Franschoek Valley. The farm & homestead was restored in 1993 establishing a new vineyard planting program that now includes Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Semillon, & Viognier. As a producer, they are considered a premium Syrah specialist and they have since branched out to produce delicious, everyday drinking wines through their Porcupine Ridge Range. Offers an intriguing nose with aromas of black currant, dark cherry, graphite, & exotic spice. The entry is smooth & subtle with a firm, focused palate showing flavors of blackberry, perfumed black tea, oregano, & hints of cedar. The mid-palate is linear & elegant with exquisite structure & fine grained, supple tannins. Vibrant yet integrated acidity and a charcoal edged texture create an exceptionally balanced wine. Blueberry, pencil lead, & bay leaf linger on a fresh, precise, & cocoa tinged finish.
An exceptionally elegant red replete with blackberry & blueberry characters with trace hints of graphite. This wine has significant ageing potential.
