Why We Love This Wine
Cape Barren Wines are produced from vineyards selected for their quality & consistency. Their red in particular are from their 45 year old & older vines producing wines of supreme concentration & complexity in the Mclaren Vale Region. With picturesque & undulating terrain, a maze of valleys & glens, criss-cross slopes, & dramatic day & night temperature variations, the Mclaren Vale is one of the finest regions in the world for growing Shiraz & Grenache with the demanding & unforgiving soils there resulting in smaller & more intensely flavored fruit. Reflecting a deep, plush purple robe with bright edges, the nose opens up with the lifted freshness of mulberry & black currant fruit characters with added whiffs of mint & spice. On the palate, this wine exhibits a velvety fullness & generous structure revealing succulent cassis & spearmint flavors. It is balanced with finely structured tannins culminating in a long mint & blackberry laced finish.
