In the ownership of the same family since 1834, the Domaine Chandon de Briailles is currently owned by the Count & Countess Aymard-Claude de Nicolay & their children. Situated 4 kilometers north of Beaune in Cote d' Or, the domaine is in the northern area of Cote de Beaune in the famous Burgundian vineyard. The estate spans 13.7 hectares shared equally among the villages of Savigny-les-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses, and Aloxe-Corton. Vinified and aged in the purest Burgundian tradition, their wines express themselves with great freshness & finesse reflecting their terroir and "climat" of origin. Their wines are crafted as close as possible to their origins and are without artifice, generous, & well-constructed to gain added complexity over time. The 2018 Corton Grand Cru Blanc blends redolent white floral aromas with crisp orchard fruit with added whiffs of nutmeg, spice, bee pollen, & beeswax. This is a deep & concentrated, medium to full-bodied wine with a firm, chalky structure, lively acids, and a fleshy nose of yellow fruits that will only get better with further ageing. Enjoy this from 2022 to 2042 with Oysters Rockefeller, Lobster Thermidore, Chicken Ballotine, & Christmas Turkey Stuffed with Foie Gras & Stewed Apples.
An unusual Chardonnay coming mainly from Pinot Noir soils, this wine is quite rich manifesting distinct yellow fruit notes of peach & apricot with added honey & beeswax hints. It boasts a crisp acidity that balances out its fresh fruit characters nicely.
