Along with Rugiens, this is held as one of the finest sites in Pommard with some asserting it is of Grand Cru quality. The monopole walled vineyard on the Beaune side of the village consistently produces elegant expressions of Pommard from low-yielding old vines. The winemaker Paul Zinetti crafts this wine from 2 different Clos de Epeneaux Crus: one from younger vines around 35 to 50 years old and the other from vines between 70 to 100 years old. On the nose, a youthfully fruit-driven bouquet predominates with raspberry, plum, cherries, and candied orange peel with added floral nuances and subtle oak touches. On the palate, this medium to full-bodied red is fleshy with a beguilingly smooth texture, juicy acidity, & an elegant tannic backbone propping up its beautifully balanced & wonderfully persistent finish. Drink this now until 2035.
Deep centered purple color with an opulent nose reflecting noble oak scents. Quite concentrated, there are lively red fruit characters, good energy, and spice nuances in this firmly structured wine with an ample acid backbone leading to a persistent & pleasant finish.
