Established in 1993, Craggy Range is a family owned winery situated in the shadow of the spectacular Te Mata Mountain Peak in the premium wine growing area of Hawke's Bay New Zealand. They are focused on becoming one of New Zealand's great wine producers backed by a long term commitment from the Peabody family. Their focus was on selecting bare land, an untouched site to ensure a focus on quality from the very beginning with their search spanning France, America, Australia, and eventually to the edge of the world in New Zealand - a land of mountains, fire, & ice. Here he saw the potential of the country's temperate & maritime climate combined with its youthful soils resulting in a unique growing environment where you can craft wines with freshness, purity, & elegance. This wine showcases bright red cherries and blueberries on the nose & palate with added touches of cinnamon & smoke. This is a bright, even, & well balanced wine with a slippery texture & grainy, savory tannins. The oak notes rear up on the palate balanced out by tempered red berry fruit characters. Added hints of black tea linger on the finish.
Vibrant red cherry with a crimson hue. Complex aromatic array of dark rose, plum, cherry, tree bark and wooden spices. Supple palate entry with attractive varietal red fruits and lovely tension from the fine tannin profile. A joyful wine full of charm.
