Alvaro Palacios is undoubtedly one of the most important & influential winemakers in Spain who has emerged after he cut his teeth initially in the legendary Chateau Petrus where he also developed his winemaking philosophy. His pioneering efforts in Priorat have secured the region's reputation for being able to produce fine wines of profound character & quality. The 2017 Finca Dofi is a single vineyard wine planted 20 years ago in the village of Grattalops in Priorat. Although these wines were aged in oak barrels for 16 months, there is no trace of oak in them as this wine is impeccably sleek, free flowing, & elegant. On the palate, it is round & velvety, sensual & juicy revealing opulent flavors of red cherries, nectarines, cherry seeds, and blood orange.
Alvaro Palacios is one of the founding fathers of modern era Priorat and his Finca Dofi consists of primarily Garnacha (Grenache) and Carinena (Carignan) grapes. Dofi is an impressive vineyard located at an altitude of 300 to 320 meters with stakes supporting the vines in this iconic Grattalops village estate.
