Why We Love This Wine
Trecastagni, at the foot of one of the extinguished craters dotting Mt. Etna, is home to the ancient vineyards of Monte Gorna with their distinctive lava terraces restructured & replanted with Sicilian varieties. The quality of the volcanic soils here rich in minerals & replete with potassium play an important role in the grapes' maturation process. Ruby red to almost garnet in color with ageing, smells of eggplant with red fruit aromas are prominent on the nose with added hints of spices & liquorice. The taste is warm, strong, & persistent with a pleasant balsamic aroma. This wine would pair perfectly with Flavored Sauces, Grilled or Roasted Meats, Game, & Medium Aged Cheeses.
Winemaker / Tasting Notes
Possessing enveloping & multi-faceted aromas, this red blend is fruity on the palate with mineral & spice notes culminating in a persistent, balsamic finish.
