Winemaker / Tasting Notes
Giuseppe Cortese's Barbera d'Alba Morassina was born in the homonymous vineyard located in the Trifolera area, in the Cuneo municipality of Barbaresco. It is produced entirely with Barbera grapes, harvested and selected only by hand. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Subsequently the wine ages for 18 months in small French wooden barrels and for a further 6 months in bottle, before being marketed. This Barbera d'Alba has an intense purplish red color, almost impenetrable. The nose opens with a pleasantly intense bouquet, with notes of red fruit and spices, on a background of tobacco and toasted. On the palate it is dry, full-bodied and velvety. Perfect to accompany first courses with meat sauce and grilled meats, it is ideal in combination with mushroom risotto and aged cheeses.
