Why We Love This Wine
The founders of Grayson Cellars believe that they can put to work their decades-long Napa Valley winemaking experience to create some of the highest quality wines at value price points. Led by Chief Winemaker Larry Levin who has lived through an over 20-year globe trotting winemaking odyssey from New Zealand, Chile, Australia, and the US Napa Valley & Sonoma County Regions, Grayson Cellars focuses on crafting wines that are fruit-forward, well-balanced, & easy to drink. The Winery brings a boutique sensibility to a lower price point for this Grayson 2018 Merlot. Grayson Wines are regularly picked as Wine Spectator "Best Buys" and there are a scant few family-owned California Wineries crafting good quality wine at great value price points today. Ripe blackberry and black plum flavors are revealed at first blush with added undertones of butter, vanilla, & chocolate emerging mid-palate. This is a decidedly smooth, fruity, medium to full-bodied California red manifesting very light, inobtrusive, "barely there" tannins.
Winemaker / Tasting Notes
Grayson Merlot is sumptuous and rich with a beautiful purple garnet color. The aromas show the rich complexity of black cherry preserves, currant, and white chocolate. This is a magnificently decadent Merlot that finishes with soft tannins, dark fruits, and elaborate oak.
