Since 1920, when Arsene & Flavie Amiot 1st founded the estate until the 4th generation which now oversees the domaine, the Amiot family have plunged their roots deep in the soil & terroir of Chassagne-Montrachet. This allows for a more traditional viticulture with a unified winemaking philosophy free from outside influences. Planted in the years 1920 to 1930, their vines of Chardonnay & Pinot Noir grapes allow limited yields annually resulting in greater concentration of flacvor in the berries. Great care is given to these ancient vines from pruning to harvesting to eloquently express the true terroir identity of each plot. Les Caillerets exudes rich aromatics and powerful lemon citrus and exotic pineapple & passionfruit flavors with an elegant mineral line reminiscent of river rocks. This wine would make a great match for Roasted Chicken with an Almond & Thyme Crust, Chargrilled Cauliflower with Rosemary, French Onion Soup, and Bouillabaisse with French Baguette & Butter.
2018 is a grand vintage that is distinctly solar, powerful, & generous. Our Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Les Caillerets is an iconic white wine. Neighboring our own house, this plot was purchased when the Domaine was founded by Arsene Amiot in 1920. It still incarnates our Chassagne white wines thanks to a great terroir high in the Chassagne hill on a predominantly limestone rich soil facing the Southeast. Les Caillerets bears a rich aromatic potential with powerful, exotic fruit flavors and an elegant mineral backbone.
