Tenuta Il Poggione covers a total area of 530 hectares of which 140 hectares are planted with vines, 50 hectares with olive trees, & the rest are dedicated to grain fields, forest, & livestock. Thanks to its prominent position at an altitude between 150 and 450 meters above sea level, the vineyards (including Vigna Paganelli planted in 1964) benefit from their proximity to Mount Arriata and the Tyrrhenian Sea. This large altitude gap, together with the age of the vineyards, promotes easier harvests & allows the production of structured wines with long ageing potential regardless of weather conditions. Produced exclusively from Sangiovese grapes hand-picked from the oldest vines on the farm, this exquisite ruby red colored wine evokes a very intense & persistent nose of red fruit characters. It has a long lasting aroma, warm & well-balanced flavors, & smooth, velvety tannins. Pair this with Red Meats, Game, & Mature Cheeses.
Aged 36 months in oak, this is a darkly saturated & opulent, vibrant & exuberant Brunello with generously rich fruit flavors exhibiting impressive balance.
