Winemaker / Tasting Notes
The 2nd wine from the legendary Chateau Chasse Spleen, this red is made from a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot. The Chateau, which is blessed with varying terroirs ranging from gravel to clay-limestone soil, is situated halfway between Margaux & St. Julien. Showing off a deep ruby colored robe, the nose opens up with ripe casis, vegetal green bell pepper, & dried herb aromas with added whiffs of new leather. On the palate, this wine showcases subtly restrained fruit with mineral touches complemented by a medium acidity and framed by ripe tannins culminating in a medium finish laced with herbal nuances. Pair this with Grilled Lamb Chops, Deer or Wild Boar tapa, and Grana Padano or Romano Cheese.
