Garnet in color with purple hues, this wine expresses tremendous length & elegance by virtue of a meticulous aging process that includes initial fermentation in oak vats, maturation for 12 months in French oak, additional aging of 5 months in oak vats, & finally 3 years aging in bottle. On the palate, this is an extremely dense wine with an abundance of power, a firm & well-balanced structure, and replete with gorgeous tannins. Enjoy this now through 2028.
Macan is the flagship of the winery that is a joint venture between Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia. It manifests elegance & depth with a freshness & fruitiness that is a result of meticulous grape selection in their best "pagos" or vineyards in San Vicente dela Sonsierra in Rioja Alta. The fineness & complexity of this wine is borne out of aging in elegant Burgundian oak and its silky tannins is a genuine result of ancient Tempranillo vines & cautious aging of 14 months in extra fine grain French oak. Witha great deal of selection going into this particularly challenging vintage year, the result is a tremendously elegant, subtle, harmonious, & fresh red wine.
