The result of a partnership between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild to create a Bordeaux style blend in Napa Valley. Bordeaux like in its structure, lovely texture, & balance, this deep garnet to purple colored red evokes a nose of cedary oak, dusty blackberries, & dried black currants with hints of herb, sage, & cinnamon spice and added touches of forest floor characters. Rich & intense, it showcases great concentration on the palate with flavors of blackberry, cloves, vanilla, & dark chocolate finishing up with fine & ripe tannins on its very long finish. Drink this now through 2030 with Flame Grilled Rib-Eye Steak, Japanese Wagyu, & Japanese Kobe Beef.
A voluptuous garnet in color, the 2005 Opus One offers concentrated aromas of blueberry, rose petals, white truffle, licorice, and nutmeg. On the palate, flavors of cassis, black olives, raspberry, and dark chocolate are revealed. This is a classic Bordeaux Style blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Malbec.
