Philip Togni is a legendary winemaker having made benchmark wines around the world for over 50 years. His Estate Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, crafted in their Spring Mountain Estate where they still adhere to traditional winemaking practices, is the culmination of his prodigious career and has been considered iconic for 2 decades. Esteemed wine critic Robert Parker includes Togni among just 23 US Wineries in his book "The World's Greatest Wine Estates". Philip Togni continues to craft exceptional wines that he designs to age gracefully & fully blossom with time. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate reveals a wonderfully spicy nose of cinnamon, cloves, fenugreek, and cumin seed over a core of cassis, brandied cherry, black raspberries, and menthol with added touches of lavender and forest floor nuances. On the palate, this medium to full-bodied red is replete with red & blackberry fruit flavors complemented by an audacious freshness & fine-grained tannins with a spice-edged, long & persistent finish.
The Togni family concentrates on making an age-worthy Margaux style blend consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, & Petit Verdot from their 25-acre parcel in Spring Mountain that is their home. Highly regarded & ultra-allocated, this wine regularly bests Cabernet blends throughout the world, including Bordeaux 1st growths, in International Wine Competitions. This beautiful red evokes currant, blackberry, & cherry fruit characters on the nose with faint hints of cedar & cigar box. On the palate, it is rich & complex with currant, blackberry, & cherry fruit flavors with added vegetal capsicum, olive, & asparagus notes culminating in a ginger spice, oak, & vanilla laced finish.
