1st established in 1776, this estate is located in the furthest corner of the beautiful Franschoek Valley. The farm & homestead was restored in 1993 establishing a new vineyard planting program that now includes Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Semillon, & Viognier. As a producer, they are considered a premium Syrah specialist and they have since branched out to produce delicious, everyday drinking wines through their Porcupine Ridge Range. The nose is bold & complex with an abundance of dark plums, violets, cured meats, & black olive aromas. On the palate, notes of liquorice, aniseed, & allspice are revealed. This is a full bodied wine with grippy tannins and ample acidity creating exceptional balance & structure. Aromas of violets linger on the finish with classic hints of white pepper.
An intense, dark, & brooding red featuring dark blue & blackberry fruit and vibrant liquorice aromas & flavors with faint whiffs of white pepper. This wine is balanced & focused, elegant yet complex with a lingering spicy finish.
