The name Ribbonwood comes from the Ribbonwood Trees, New Zealand's tallest native deciduous species, which grow around the Ribbonwood Estate Vineyards in Renwick. With their commitment to sustainability, they have planted more than 1,000 native shrubs and trees to enhance biodiversity and improve wastewater management. Produced in a modern style, Ribbonwood specializes in making wines from fruit from mature to old vines in Marlborough's Wairau Valley. The Sauvignon Blanc vines in the original Ribbonwood Block near Renwick are planted in an unusual East-West direction, providing shade on the south side of the rows thereby enhancing the gooseberry aromatics of the fruit. Straw yellow in color, this wine opens up with juicy apple, pear, & peach aromas. On the palate, it has a rich, pure taste apple, pear, & quince characters with an underlying creamy texture. Pair this with Braised Pork & Grilled Chicken dishes as well as Oven Baked Salmon.
Fresh floral and spring blossom aromas. The palate has rich fruit flavours of ripe pears, nectarine and orange zest intermingled. This wine offers a complex creamy texture with delicate refreshing acidity on the finish.
