The name Ribbonwood comes from the Ribbonwood Trees, New Zealand's tallest native deciduous species, which grow around the Ribbonwood Estate Vineyards in Renwick. With their commitment to sustainability, they have planted more than 1,000 native shrubs and trees to enhance biodiversity and improve wastewater management. Produced in a modern style, Ribbonwood specializes in making wines from fruit from mature to old vines in Marlborough's Wairau Valley. The Sauvignon Blanc vines in the original Ribbonwood Block near Renwick are planted in an unusual East-West direction, providing shade on the south side of the rows thereby enhancing the gooseberry aromatics of the fruit. A gentle, off-dry white, its vibrant palate exhibits the subtle sweetness of juicy mandarin orange & peach flavors typical of Marlborough Rieslings. It shows fragrant aromas of lemon curd, florals, white stone fruit, & manadarin orange. The finish is mouthwatering & juicy with good fruit & a fine mineral acidity. Enjoy this wine as an aperitif or with Asian Pork Dishes.
