Why We Love This Wine
With a long history in the Barossa Valley in Australia, the Thorn-Clark family boasts 6 generations of involvement in the wine industry. They just recently started their own Sandpiper label in 1998 consistently producing great value wines of surprising character. A deep purple red in color, the nose opens up with aromas of ripe plums & dark cherries along with earthy undertones and subtle nuances of vanilla & clove. There is a wonderful plushness to its fruit focused palate revealing plum & cherry fruit flavors along with subdued oak notes and underpinnings of soft, silky tannins. This is a versatile red wine that can be enjoyed young but will reward with patient cellaring. Enjoy this beautiful Barossa Valley Shiraz with Charred Red Meats, Oven Roasted Vegetables, and Hard Cheeses.
Winemaker / Tasting Notes
