Established in 1896, Te Mata Estate is one of the few New Zealand Wineries with roots in the 19th century remaining family owned, retaining pride in their heritage, & staying true to their commitment to the future. They produce 11 wines from classic vineyard areas in Hawke's Bay blessed with a generous climate & a quality reputation. With their complexity, structure, & balance, these wines reward careful cellaring through continued evolution in the bottle. Te Mata Estate has been at the forefront of the modern rejuvenation of the New Zealand wine scene over the last 40 years being large enough to be well resourced but small enough to concentrate on detail. Superbly fragrant on the nose with lemon, white peach, popcorn, & fresh pineapple scents emerging. The palate opens up with lemon, creme brulee, & toasted cashew with a slight touch of flint & smoke. With its fruit concentration as well as its vibrant & juicy acidity, there is a liveliness to this wine that culminates in a long, lingering finish.
A beautifully fragrant & fresh Chardonnay with a slightly buttery bouquet showcasing a melange of ripe stonefruit, rock-melon, & vanilla aromas with generous flavors of ripe peach & subtle toasty notes. Wonderfully balanced & succulent, it exhibits an even keeled acidity with a lingering, flavorful finish.
