Why We Love This Wine
A 4th generation family owned winery in Western Australia's Southern area of Frankland River, Alkoomi's vineyard management philosophy has always been quality over quantity while practicing sustainable farming. The cool climate and well-drained gravelly loam soils here are similar to those of Bordeaux in France. The long, cool ripening conditions in this area are perfect for the production of grapes of intense varietal character. Grapes are harvested at the peak of ripeness in the cool, early morning to retain primary fruit freshness from juice, to fermentation, to bottle. Vibrant crimson with magenta hues, flavors of black cherries, chocolate, and vanilla with layers of pepper and spice flood the palate leading to a long, lingering, & smooth finish.
