Peter Lehman wines was established in 1980 in Tanunda South Australia by its eponymous founder who was widely known as the "Baron of Barossa". Their iconic wine is the Stonewell Shiraz, a wine that includes grapes from their own estate vineyards in the Maranaga district of Barossa Valley. They source their grapes from 140 different grape growers throughout the Barossa & Eden Vallays as well as Adelaide Hills. Made from 87% Old Vine Shiraz and 13% Grenache from the Barossa Valley, this wine is made in an unoaked fruit driven style ideal for immediate enjoyment. The lifted aromatic flavors of the Grenache imparts a delightful softness & elegance to the Shiraz making it an affable Barossa blend. Made in a fresh, medium-bodied style, the Shiraz provides the core of rich dark fruit as well as the firm structure while the supple aromatic qualities of the Grenache mellow it out.
Winemaker / Tasting Notes
A deep, vibrant garnet in color, the nose evokes a lovely bouquet of dark red fruits with added whiffs of aniseed in the background. This is a richly flavored, fruit driven wine with great aromatics and a wonderfully soft finish.
