Surrounded by the region's first growth vineyards, Chateau Simard enjoys excellent sun exposure and predominantly clay soil mixed with sand & gravel. Chateau Simard's classically refined style is attributable not only to its' fine vineyard location but also to its' traditional winemaking practices and distinctive aging program. A blend of 70% Merlot & 30% Cabernet Franc, the nose opens up with rich berry, violet floral, & earth aromas. On its' medium to full-bodied palate, flavors of black cherry, plum, & cassis expand further within a well-rounded structure leading to a powerful finish of medium length. Its' firm tannic structure is indicative of its excellent aging potential. Elegant & balanced upon release, the Chateau Simard Merlot excellently expresses its' deep roots in Bordeaux's famous right bank.
