Why We Love This Wine

The result of a partnership between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild to create a Bordeaux style blend in Napa Valley. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Opus One emerges from the glass with majestically complex aromas of ripe blueberries, black currants, & cherry jam with herbal & floral hints as well as nuances of dark chocolate & charcoal. On the palate, it is full-bodied, rich, concentrated, & very refined exhibiting stewed black fruit characters along with ripe & fine grained tannins culminating in a very long & exotic spice laced finish.

The 2016 Opus One is remarkably elegant & bright offering sumptuous aromas of fresh red & blue fruit, baking spices, and vanilla with added fragrant touches of spring florals. The initial bouquet is augmented by a more nuanced notes sage, rosemary, and black olives. The juicy flavors of black cherry, blackberry, and cassis inundate the palate while the creamy, fine-grained tannins deliver a delightfully roiund structure. Harmonious & lively, the flavors linger to create an enduring finish with touches of dark chocolate & espresso.
