Heartland is the place between the vines with the best view of the gum trees. The cool climate of Langhorne Creek typifies Australia at its finest. Heartland grows & selects grapes with the most flavor per acre through careful vineyard management & years of collective expertise. With a 160 year history of winemaking, the Langhorne Creek Wine Region sits atop an ancient, natural floodplain between the Bremer & Angus Rivers on the shores of Lake Alexandrina and it was these fertile alluvial soils that attracted settlers here who eventually cultivated the land. Totally opaque dark reddish black color with a dark red hue, the nose reveals aromas of dark cherries & very ripe red currants over cedary tobacco characters and traces of mint. Generous black currant & dark cherry flavors laced with mint reign over nuanced cedary tobacco characters & spice. Medium to full bodied, this wine has fine grained tannins and aftertastes of black currant, ripe dark cherries, mint, spicy earth, & cedary tobacco characters that linger on the palate of its long finish.
