Why We Love This Wine
The Majella Estate has gone through a long period of transformation from primarily a pastural land for sheep starting in the 1960s, a grape grower for the Wynn's Coonawarra Estate in the 1980s & early 1990s, and finally establishing their own winery in 1996 producing their 1st crackerjack vintage in 1999 under the auspices of Chief Winemaker Bruce Gregory. The Estate produces primarily Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, & Riesling varietals. A rich, flavorful, & well-balanced Sparkling Red, the Majella Sparkling Shiraz is a celebratory wine ideal for serving at the Christmas table or as an aperitif with Prosciutto, Salami Milano, Jamon Serrano, or Chorizo Iberico.
Winemaker / Tasting Notes
The robe is a vibrant dark red with bright ruby hue. The nose exhibits attractive fresh plum, raspberry, & blackberry aromas. On its complex palate, it is smooth, balanced, & luscious revealing black fruit characters with spice hints properly framed by gentle tannins carrying through to a generous finish.
