Built on family relationships and a blend of tradition and innovation, Rémy Martin was founded in 1724 in the heart of the cognac region. It’s the only major cognac house that specializes in the creation of Cognac Fine Champagne, and is part of the Comité Colbert: an association to promote the concept of luxury. Their cognacs have the Cognac Fine Champagne appellation, meaning they are some of the best of the best: they come from a blend of eaux-de-vie from Grand Champagne and Petite Champagne crus, with at least 50% Grand Champagne. The Rémy Martin VSOP was created in 1927and is the largest selling VSOP cognac worldwide. It’s loved for being well-balanced and complex with notes of vanilla, stone fruit, and licorice. The Rémy Martin XO was created in 1981 by André Giraud and is a blend of up to 400 eaux-de-vie: it’s the ultimate expression of Cognac Fine Champagne. Rémy Martin CLUB was created in 1986 and is known for its special octagonal-shaped bottle. Rémy Martin is also part of the Remy Cointreau Group, which is the result of a 1990 merger that brought together companies like itself, St. Rémy, Cointreau, and others. St. Rémy is a high-quality brandy that came to life when the Rémy Martin vineyards were damaged by phylloxera in 1886. Paul-Emile Rémy Martin II looked for other vineyards and found Machecoul, where the Gros Plant grapes were similar to Folle Blance. That same year, he set up a distillery and started producing brandy under St. Rémy. Cointreau was created in 1849 and since then its character and flavor profile has stayed true to its origins. An orange liqueuer it gets its flavors from carefully selecting and assembling sweet and bitter orange peel essences. Today, it has become a favorite amongst bartenders around the world.
