In the last 30 years, the Ribera del Duero wine growing region characterized by flat & largely rocky terrain has emerged to challenge Rioja as Spain's premier wine growing region. Made from Tempranillo grapes carefully selected from 20 year old vines, this dark ruby red wine boasts complex aromas of cherries & dried plums laced with balsamic & spicy savory notes intermingled with mocha, toast, caramel, & smoke flavors with trace hints of pepper, herbs, & leather. Powerful but with well integrated tannins, this wine has a long lasting & velvety finish. Pair this wine with game meat, grilled beef, lamb chops with rosemary & mint, and Castillian stews.
