Jose Miguel Arambarri Terrero returned to La Rioja in 1999 and recovered Small Grain Muscat which has all but disappeared due to phylloxera. His vision for creating good wine gave rise to Castillo de Maetierra and Maetierra Dominum, the two wineries that were the origin of Vintae. When his two sons joined him, Vintae became the brand that it is today. In 2003, they created Hacienda Lopez de Haro and began exploring other wine regions around Spain.
