Why We Love This Wine
Deep in the Waihopai Valley in New Zealand, Spy Valley Vineyards was established in the 1990s in a land previously considered too dry & infertile for wine. A pioneer in the region & now considered one of New Zealand's most successful family run wineries, the Johnsons are simply farmers at heart nurturing soil & vine in a sustainable fashion to cultivate the complexities in their wines that now count 8 varietals exported to 35 countries worldwide. Aromas of roasted nuts, fig, & white peach lead to a crisp & bright palate of peach, melon, and orange skin revealing a creamy mouthfeel with nutty notes from barrel ageing. This will drink well at least until 2025.
Winemaker / Tasting Notes
A classic vintage that is tightly structured with impressive depth of peach & slightly toasty flavors providing good complexity and a lingering finish.
