Why We Love This Wine
Situated above the fertile Franschoek Valley in the heart of the Cape winelands lies this wine farm that is a seamless blend of unspoiled nature, welcoming hospitality, & exquisite facilities with a host of culinary & viticultural delights set among a working wine farm with a 350 year history. As purists, they believe that to produce wine of true character, it is essential that nature should be the primary winemaker. Their farm is blessed with cool breezes during the warm summer months and stony, clay-rich soil giving their wines their unique personality & style. Deep garnet red in color with tinges of dark violet, the bouquet of this wine is complex with scents reminiscent of wild berries, spice, & cherries. On the palate, the wine shows a full body and rich dark chocolate characters with fruit flavors & elegantly balanced tannins revealing a sweetness reminiscent of liquorice in its long, lingering finish.
Winemaker / Tasting Notes
Made in a unique partially ripasso style, this quintessential South African red reflects complex sweet red berry fruit aromas & flavors complemented by a zippy acidity and savory tannins.
