Why We Love This Wine
The inception of Claymore wines was created out of their passion to produce premium Clare Valley wines while bringing it together with 2 of life's other passions: music & football. As such, many of their labels are inspired by either football or some of the greatest music of modern times. Clare Valley, affectionately referred to as the "Gateway to the Outback" and the "Garden of the North", is a region with a lovely patch of green with old gum trees & majestic vineyards on the way to & from South Australia's Outback. Although world famous for crisp Rieslings, its modulating microclimate of long hot summer days & cool evenings creates an ideal setting for crafting delightfully elegant & flavorful Shiraz & Cabernet. Gentle, intuitive winemaking produces wines of elegance & structure from an eclectic mix of new & old wines some of which are over 80 years old. This lovely 2018 vintage offers sublime dark fruits, bursts with concentrated spice, and finishes smoothly with plenty of fine tannins. It has a polish & sophistication normally seen in wines 3x its price. Leather, spice, white pepper, earth, forest fruits, & hints of dark chocolate aromatics deliciously mingle with dark berry, almost mulberry fruit flavors as well as touches of fine oak & fruit tannins.
