Why We Love This Wine
Tenuta Il Poggione covers a total area of 530 hectares of which 140 hectares are planted with vines, 50 hectares with olive trees, & the rest are dedicated to grain fields, forest, & livestock. Thanks to its prominent position at an altitude between 150 and 450 meters above sea level, the vineyards (including Vigna Paganelli planted in 1964) benefit from their proximity to Mount Arriata and the Tyrrhenian Sea. This large altitude gap, together with the age of the vineyards, promotes easier harvests & allows the production of structured wines with long ageing potential regardless of weather conditions. Rose colored, it shows floral characters as well as strawberry & raspberry fruit notes with touches of spice. On the palate, it shows excellent body & freshness. Great as an aperitif, this wine pairs very well with seafood, vegetables, & soft cheeses.
Winemaker / Tasting Notes
A fresh & young Sangiovese, this wine evokes prominent floral, red fruit, strawberry, raspberry, & spice characters.
