Why We Love This Wine
Founded in the late 1990s by fresh food business mogul Gonzalo Vial, Vina Ventisquero began making wine in the year 2000 with a single purpose of creating distinctive, high quality wines that resonate with their target audience globally. Under the guidance of Chief Winemaker Felipe Tosso, the Winery was 1st established in the coastal Maipo Valley shortly followed by expansion into the Casablanca Valley and the prestigious Apalta Valley for their premium wine range. Continually undergoing extensive research to extract the most accurate expressions of Chile's unique terroir, Vina Ventisquero now counts Estate Vineyards in the country's top wine producing areas: Maipo Valley, Casablanca Valley, Apalta Valley, Leyda, and the Colchagua Valley. This is a very typical Apalta Syrah fully expressing both the terroir & the Syrah varietal. Possessing a dark ruby colored robe, this wine opens up with blackberry & plum fruit characters with hints of black pepper spice as well as tertiary new leather & savory bacon aromas. On the palate, it has a full mouthfeel and a rich & smooth structure revealing the presence of ripe & round tannins with touches of chocolate. This velvety smooth wine finishes strong with a pleasant fruity finish of great persistence.
Winemaker / Tasting Notes
This Syrah is characterized by its intensely deep ruby red color. The aroma has notes of wild fruits, black pepper, tobacco, vanilla, & spice. It has great intensity, firm and ripe tannins, with chocolate-flavored hints. Good for drinking now but can be stored for up to 10 years.
