Why We Love This Wine
Dogpoint is one of the oldest privately established vineyards in Marlborough with their 1st plantings starting in the late 1970s. Considered a prime grape growing area in the Southern Valleys of Marlborough, the Vineyard is centrally located where the smaller Bran cott and Omaka Valleys converge. The property has vine plantings of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, & Pinot Noir with older, more well-established situated in free draining silty clay loam soil. Blessed with one of the sunniest & driest climates in New Zealand, the morning temperatures range between cool early mornings & sunny days affording ideal conditions for the slow ripening of grapes. Low cropping of grapes, hand harvesting of vines, and meticulous organic farming practices help ensure sustainability & longevity for years ahead. Upon opening, there is a touch of initial briny aromas that immediately give way to more conventional citrus, passionfruit, peach, snow pea, & white spice aromas. On the palate, it is slippery revealing crunchy snow pea & citrus characters buttressed by a vivid & juicy acidity. Displaying an undeniable maritime influence, this is nonetheless a well-balanced wine with a smooth, chalky finish.

This is a bright, fresh, & citrus driven white reflecting honeydew melon & pear characters. A very pure yet restrained Sauvignon Blanc, this is a classic expression of the Marlborough terroir. This is a powerful, juicy, & intense white displaying a fruity core of citrus flavors.
