Why We Love This Wine
Deep in the Waihopai Valley in New Zealand, Spy Valley Vineyards was established in the 1990s in a land previously considered too dry & infertile for wine. A pioneer in the region & now considered one of New Zealand's most successful family run wineries, the Johnsons are simply farmers at heart nurturing soil & vine in a sustainable fashion to cultivate the complexities in their wines that now count 8 varietals exported to 35 countries worldwide. Vibrant red berry fruits with a distinct stonefruit layer & delicate hints of rose petal, cinnamon spice, & cracked pepper on the nose. On the palate, it is mouthfilling & dry with peach, nectarine, classic cherry, & strawberry flavors balanced out by an energetic acid balance. This will cellar well until 2023.
