Why We Love This Wine
Founded in the late 1990s by fresh food business mogul Gonzalo Vial, Vina Ventisquero began making wine in the year 2000 with a single purpose of creating distinctive, high quality wines that resonate with their target audience globally. Under the guidance of Chief Winemaker Felipe Tosso, the Winery was 1st established in the coastal Maipo Valley shortly followed by expansion into the Casablanca Valley and the prestigious Apalta Valley for their premium wine range. Continually undergoing extensive research to extract the most accurate expressions of Chile's unique terroir, Vina Ventisquero now counts Estate Vineyards in the country's top wine producing areas: Maipo Valley, Casablanca Valley, Apalta Valley, Leyda, and the Colchagua Valley. The Ventisquero Grey Carmenere 2017 is a concentrated red wine with a complex bouquet revealing redolent aromas of ripe black fruit & spice notes with vestiges of wet earth & graphite. On the palate, it is a fresh, vibrant, & full-bodied wine with firm, velvety tannins and a taut acidity. There is a lingering persistence to its finish punctuated by added mineral touches.
Winemaker / Tasting Notes
Color is intense and deep ruby red with aromas of black fruits such as blackberries, mixed with traces of black pepper, notes of vanilla and a soft smoky hint. Great structure with soft and velvety tannins.
